In the past I have offered these services:

• Narrative Research

In depth qualitative research of trends in society, where the final report reads as a narrative. Photography is sometimes included.

clients: For the Dynamic City Foundation, I used this methodology to get a grasp on urban culture in the fast changing Chinese cities.

• Editorial Research and reporting

In depth research for documentaries, conferences, exhibitions, background reports.

clients: For the Dutch HotSpot network of public broadcasting workers I have researched developments in new media. This research was used as a base for a series of themed conferences and meetings. I also hosted one conference on Virtual Worlds.

For The Mobile City, a conference that I organized with the Netherlands Architecture Institute and with Michiel de Lange, I have done the background research and written the conference text. With De Lange I have also produced the conference itself.

• Strategic Review and Consultancy on New Media

For several clients I have written review and advisory reports on how new media communications could benefit their organizations. I have also set-up the structure for several weblogs.

clients:
For Dutch development corporaton HIVOS I reviewed a project they funded on new media and journalism, and I wrote a report with recommendations for improvement.

For De Nieuwe Reporter, a Dutch professional weblog that I co-founded, I have set up the initial website structure. I have also successfully co-written the grand applications for this website.

• Essays, Lectures, Workshops and Exhibitions

For several clients I have written essays and introductions for international publications. I also appear as a public speaker, and have been commissioned work for exhibitions. See my list of publications for a list of recent work. Here you will find an overview of recent speaking appearances.

Clients: For the Caucasus Media Institute I have set up a masterclass on new media and journalism. I have given public presentations and academic classes at several Dutch Universities (Amsterdam, Maastricht, Eindhoven)

I have written for the Dutch magazine Open, the catalogue of the Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, and an introduction for a publication for the Dutch Cultural Broadcasting Fund.

I have participated as an exhibitor in the International Biennale of Art and Architecture in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
